Last week I had a great time working in Nashville. It was my first time visiting the southern city! I attended a food editors conference last week and worked a promotional event. While in the city I had the opportunity to nosh on some great southern food and tour the city.
Nashville is an up and coming foodie city, just like Atlanta. They pride themselves on producing great southern food. Prior to my visit, I did some research on where to eat, drink, shop, in the city.
Check out where I went below:
1. Dinner at Merchants (A historic nashville restaurant that focuses on American cuisine. I loved that they serve popcorn at each table in cute little canisters)
2. A tour of the famous Gaylord Opryland ( They are already setting up for Christmas)
3. A honey mojito from our conference cocktail hour.
4. Chocolate from Nashville chocolatier Olive & Sinclair.
5. Dinner at City House ( A restaurant that focuses on blending Italian and Southern cuisine)
6. Pan seared trout stuffed with peanuts, corn, fresh herbs, and raisins from City House. (It may look like an interesting combination but it was delicious)
7. The drive to Nashville was gorgeous. We really got a chance to enjoy scenic views of fall foliage.
8. Sweet Potato Pancakes from the Pancake Pantry. ( These were the best pancakes ever. I love sweet potatoes and these were the perfect ending to a good work trip)

I’m in Nashville this week for work attending a culinary media conference. So I won’t be blogging much this week. I’m looking forward to exploring all of the culinary options the city has to offer. I’ve heard Nashville is a southern foodie mecca, similar to Atlanta.
Have any recommendations on places I need to Eat, Drink, and Shop while I am town? Leave a comment below.
I just got back from five days in San Juan, Puerto Rico with a group of girlfriends. The trip was amazing and everything I needed. We had the best time exploring all that Puerto Rico has to offer. With all the stress I’ve been going through lately this vacation allowed me to unwind and unplug for a week.
I hope you enjoyed my guest bloggers while I was away. Haven’t been in the loop on Eat.Drink.Shop.Love lately? Well check out travel tips from Tara, Whitney, and Smita to see what you have missed.
Check out snapshots below from my trip to Puerto Rico.
Also, bringing a scented candle along with you is a must on any vacation.
Vogue did a couple of amazing photo shoot videos from Puerto Rico featuring the beautiful Joan Smalls, (one video also features the talented and cute Bruno Mars!), so take a look and travel away with Jewel to Puerto Rico this week!
Hi there! Tara here from T and a Friend. While Jewel is enjoying the pristine beaches of Puerto Rico, I thought it’d be nice to share a few of the necessities I rely on most while traveling!
First off, I’m pretty serious about not checking my bag unless we’re looking at a month-long trip to Bora Bora (one day…). However, you never know when an airline agent may require you to check your bag at the gate where you’re departing. Instead of allowing the thought of me being separated from my precious belongings ruin the flight, I carry these zip ties with me and use them to lock the zippers on my bag together. Zip ties are cheap, lightweight, and give me peace of mind.
Once on the plane, I like to keep myself cozy with this pareo I bought at Target (if it’s summertime) or scarf that can also be folded into a pillow and am known to wear my eye blinders if I’m aiming to get a nap in.
No matter where I go, I always bring my Aveda Calming Tea along for the ride. This is the first tea that I’ve truly loved, not only for its organic characteristics, but also because it tastes perfect without any milk or honey added. Beware, you may get hooked too. While we’re on the subject of calming, I should also tell you about my wonderful secret potion that helps me fall asleep in any hotel room, L’Occitane’s Lavender Mist!
Because dehydration is an inevitable side effect of traveling by plane, it’s important to keep the body and skin hydrated. That’s why I bring a great hand/nail moisturizer, Evian mist, and my BB Crème onboard. I start my morning with a long-lasting lip color so I don’t have to be concerned with reapplying throughout the day, opting to keep a Chapstick nearby instead.
If I know my trip will afford me some playtime, I’ll print out the “36 Hours in [city’s name]” guide from New York Times’ website before I leave. This helps me gain my bearings and understand what the major landmarks and good finds for dinner are. I’m currently perusing the Kate Spade guide to LA for my upcoming trip there!
Finally, I always carry stamps with me so I can send postcards to my cousins and friends from wherever I am traveling, and for reading, I typically have an Elle Décor or Oprah magazine on hand accompanied by a book with real paper pages. I’m a big fan of Paulo Coelho and am currently reading Aleph and have been captivated from the very beginning.
