Bloom Where You Are Planted

How to Bloom Where Planted

As I approach my 32nd birthday next month, I recently had a conversation with a friend about being self-aware and blooming where you are planted. We looked back at my personal growth story and walk through faith over the past few years. If you knew me 6 years ago, I was anxious, in a mentally abusive relationship, and lacked a lot of self-confidence. The woman you see today is strong, self-aware, confident and has mastered how to bloom where you are planted in life. I’ve learned that life isn’t always going to be filled with flowers but you can make the best with what you have in your garden.

So when my photographer and I stumbled upon this mural on Atlanta’s beltline trail I knew we had to photograph this for the blog. Atlanta is filled with murals around the city but this one, in particular, stood out to me. I love the abstract and bold flowers on this mural. They are a little rugged but they are standing tall and blooming.

Around Atlanta: Cinnaholic

Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope you are having a great start to your week. If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you know that I have a huge sweet tooth. The dessert course is one of my favorite dayparts. I never pass up something sweet.

So when the folks at Cinnaholic reached out to me to invite me to visit their Atlanta location, I couldn’t wait to try this place. Cinnaholic is a vegan cinnamon roll shop with franchises around the country. This isn’t your typical cinnamon roll shop, all of the rolls are vegan,egg-free, made from scratch and include all-natural ingredients. The thing I loved the most about this dessert shop is that they let you customize your own cinnamon rolls.Cinnaholic has several varieties of icings and over 30 toppings to choose from. So if you want a pecan pie cinnamon rolls you can make one with a bourbon flavored icing and top it with pecans. That’s what I did! Sounds like a fun experience right?

Cinnaholic is definitely a place to take your kids this summer or a creative date night idea. Not in Atlanta? Cinnaholic has franchises popping up all over the country. Check to see where the nearest location is to you.

Around Atlanta: Your guide to Atlanta’s best doughnut shops

If you haven’t heard by now, it’s National Doughnut Day! In honor of this yummy holiday I’m sharing my favorite doughnut shops around the Atlanta area.

Your guide to Atlanta doughnut shops

1. Revolution Doughnuts

Located in Decatur, Revolution Doughnuts has a special place in my heart. I love getting their Rose chai tea lattes with almond milk while enjoying their Salted Caramel Doughnut. If you are planning to go on Saturday or Sunday, I recommend getting there early because they typically run out. My other favorite doughnut flavors from Revolution are the Dark Chocolate, Cinnamon Sugar and Fresh Peach. They also have gluten-free doughnuts as well.

2. Sublime Doughnuts

Sublime Doughnuts is one of Atlanta’s most popular doughnut shops. They have two locations one in Midtown and one in Brookhaven. Sublime is known for its unique flavors and shaped doughnuts. My favorite flavors are Smores, Reese’s Peanut Cup and the Ying Yang Twist.

3. Doughnut Dollies

If you live outside the perimeter, you should check out Doughnut Dollies in Marietta. They opened in early 2016 and have been selling out ever since. My favorites are the Red Velvet, Lemon Lavender and Apple Ginger Cranberry fritter.

4. Bonglaze Doughnuts

I just recently discovered Bonglaze doughnuts when I ordered them from UberEats. They are located in Brookhaven and are opening a location in Buckhead soon. I love the Cotton Candy, Meyer Lemon, and Campfire doughnuts.

What are your favorite doughnut flavors?

Around Atlanta: Georgia Aquarium

Last month I had the opportunity to attend a private tour of the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. I had visited the aquarium in the past for a few meetings but never actually toured the facility. So I was excited when this opportunity came my way. The Georgia Aquarium just debuted a new sea lion and dolphin exhibit. If you live in Atlanta or are planning a trip this summer to the city I recommend you check out the aquarium. Spend the day in the area enjoying all of the towns lovely museums and the Georgia Aquarium.

Around Atlanta: Waiting on Martha Boutique

I recently visited the Waiting on Martha  shop in Atlanta located at the  Shops Around Lenox. I had meant to stop by when I was in the area in the past but time never permitted. But I’m glad I had a chance to buy a few Christmas gifts during this trip.

Waiting on Martha Store

Owner, Mandy Frye is a fellow Atlanta lifestyle blogger who opened a brick and mortar store of her successful online boutique. She carries everything from clothing to cookbooks to stationary. When you walk into the store you feel as if you are walking into your home. I met Mandy a few years ago at a blogger event and remember hearing her talk about opening her store. In early 2016, her store is expecting to relocate to an unannounced location when her lease is up.
