It’s Scorpio Season!

Usually, when you are meeting someone new for the first time a few things always come up in the conversation. Where are you from? When is your birthday?  What’s your zodiac sign? Hi! My name is Jewel. I’m from Atlanta, Georgia. Today is my birthday and I’m a Scorpio.

Usually, when you tell someone you are a Scorpio you either get one or two reactions. A side-eye or a friendly response.I don’t follow a lot of astrology but I do believe people who are born around the same time of year share similar personality traits. But I will tell you that Scorpios are the most misunderstood signs in astrology. We really aren’t that complex when you get to know us. A few characteristics of the Scorpio female is a that we are loyal, a true friend, honest to the core, intense, mysterious, hard-working, one not to cross, passionate, loving, and influential.

I love being a Scorpio so when J.Crew released their limited edition zodiac graphic tees this summer. I had to purchase one! These zodiac t-shirts flew off the shelves at J.Crew because I looked for other signs for friends as gifts for the holidays and they were all gone. Luckily, J.Crew still had the Scorpio t-shirt in my size online. In honor of my birthday today, I’m rocking my Scorpio t-shirt! Even though its chilly outside I’ve paired this graphic tee with a pair of black jeans and a jacket.

I’ve recently become obsessed with graphic t-shirts. Every time I see one with a cute phrase I have to purchase it. I love a good T-shirt that I can just throw on with jeans or dress up with a skirt and a pair of heels.

The weather is starting to turn cooler in Atlanta and I thought this would be the perfect outfit for brunch with friends when paired with a leather jacket.  The top is from J.Crew (Sold Out) and this skirt (on sale) is from Madewell.

This J.crew “Salut!” top stood out because of its bold font and bright blue color. Salut means in hello in French and graphic tees are a great way to start a conversation or get a message across.

Bloom Where You Are Planted

How to Bloom Where Planted

As I approach my 32nd birthday next month, I recently had a conversation with a friend about being self-aware and blooming where you are planted. We looked back at my personal growth story and walk through faith over the past few years. If you knew me 6 years ago, I was anxious, in a mentally abusive relationship, and lacked a lot of self-confidence. The woman you see today is strong, self-aware, confident and has mastered how to bloom where you are planted in life. I’ve learned that life isn’t always going to be filled with flowers but you can make the best with what you have in your garden.

So when my photographer and I stumbled upon this mural on Atlanta’s beltline trail I knew we had to photograph this for the blog. Atlanta is filled with murals around the city but this one, in particular, stood out to me. I love the abstract and bold flowers on this mural. They are a little rugged but they are standing tall and blooming.

I can’t believe the end of summer is officially here! My summer has been a fun one filled with lots of off the shoulder tops and dresses. Yes…I love a good off the shoulder outfit! I discovered this off the shoulder dress during one of my recent trips to Marshalls. This fab find was under $30.

I love this dress because it can be worn as a swimsuit cover-up to the pool or to a weekend brunch with friends. The ruffled detail on the sleeve and bottom was a huge selling point for me. It adds a unique twist to your classic off the shoulder dress.

How are you celebrating the end of summer? This weekend I’ll be cheering on my undergraduate alma mater the University of Alabama in its kickoff game vs. FSU.

This blue dress immediately caught my eye during a recent shopping trip on ASOS.com. I was looking for a standout floral dress for the spring and summer and this is it! It was love at first sight. This blue dress had “me” written all over it. I love the vintage inspired floral colors and the fit of the dress.

I’m petite and 5″3 so it’s often hard to find dresses that fit me right without getting them altered. I love that ASOS has petite and regular sized clothing. I lucked up that this dress was sold in petites, regular, and tall sizes.

These floral prints are so vibrant that you don’t need any accessories so I paired this outfit with peep-toe heels and a cross body bag.
