Homemade Dinner Rolls + 15 Classic Sunday Dinner Recipes

Sunday dinner is one my favorite meals to have because it brings friends and family together. Everyone puts their heart and soul in each dish when preparing. For a while in my family it was a tradition for everyone to get together for a large Sunday dinner at least once a month. One of the first foods I learned to prepare from scratch was homemade dinner rolls for a Sunday meal from my Godmother. We we would start fairly early in the morning making the dough and making cute little kid-friendly shapes. We place them on the window seal and let them rise all day and place in the oven to bake right before dinner time.  I was a great foundation for many meals to come prepared in my kitchen.

So today I’ll be sharing 15 classic Sunday dinner recipes with a modern twist in addition to a recipe from me for Homemade Dinner Rolls.

Some people stray away from making bread from scratch because of the long hours it requires in the kitchen. But the taste of homemade fresh baked bread is dramatically different than a store brought package from your freezer section. Start out by adding yeast and warm water to your mixer bowl. Using paddle attachment. Mix until it become bubbly. Add melted butter, salt, sugar, eggs, and milk to the mixer. Mix for a few minutes until blended. Gradually add cups of flour to mixer until dough begins to form. Replace paddle with dough hook to kneed dough ( this saves so much time). Now grease a large mixing bowl with cooking spray. Place your dough ball in the bowl. Cover with a towel and place in a warm place for 1 to 2 hours.

Once your dough has risen. Punch it down with your fist. (This is the fun part) Pour your dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Now break dough down into small 15-16 balls. Smooth balls and place them into your greased pan or cast iron skillet. Bake in the oven for 45 minutes or until slightly brown.
