No.246 in Atlanta’s historic downtown Decatur neighborhood is debuting a new dessert menu and earlier this week I was invited to try it out with several other local Atlanta bloggers. I dined at No.246 for the first time two months ago on birthday and I immediately fell in love. No.246 serves Italian food with a farm to table focus.
Downtown Decatur is very much a walking community, and No.246 is enticing onlookers to stop in with its new pastry window displays. The windows are amazing and I got a chance to taste several desserts from the displays. My favorite was the apple tart and the brioche. For now, the pastry windows are only making weekend appearances, adding an extra sweet note to Saturdays and Sundays in Decatur.
No.246 is also mixing up its dessert menu by offering a new menu selection of smaller pastries that are meant to be shared and paired with cocktails. Each pairing will cost under $10 total. The pastry chef Taria Camerino, strategically worked with the head bartender to developed desserts and cocktails that would compliment each other and bring out the best in each pairing.
I tried the flourless chocolate cake with Citron paired with a harvey darko beer cocktail. I’m not really a beer drinker but the chocolate cake really brought out the flavors in the beer.
I also sampled the pistachio cannoncini paired with a really nice biscotti spumanti cocktail. I love sparkling so this drink was just what I needed.
So the next time you are in downtown Decatur, check out No. 246. They have an amazing selection of homemade pizzas and pastas.
